About Our New Name

Our new name and logo represent our renewed commitment to getting all children into school

Why a new name?

The Global Partnership for Education started as the small Education for All - Fast Track Initiative (EFA FTI) in 2002.

In the last ten years, we have grown from working in seven developing countries to 46 partner countries, mobilized $2.1 billion to improve access and quality to education and helped more than 19 million children go to school for the first time.

Simply put, the Fast Track Initiative has outgrown its old name.

We are no longer an initiative; we are a partnership with a long-term future.  We are a major funder of education and the only global partnership devoted to getting all children in school for a quality education.

Our new name - Global Partnership for Education - communicates the strength, scope and purpose of our organization and the joint responsibility we share to achieve education for all children.
