Before the start of the G20 Summit in Hamburg, Julia Gillard was interviewed by CNN's Christiane Amanpour to discuss the crucial role that education can play to ensure long-term and sustainable development around the world. Gillard is asking world leaders to add education to the G20 agenda. Education financing is down, compared to an overall increase in total aid, and only by adequately financing education, especially for girls, will the world be more peaceful and more secure.

GPE launched its replenishment campaign for 2018-2020 to reach US$2 billion a year by 2020.
