The Global Partnership for Education (GPE) and the Deutsche Gesellschaft fuer Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) invite you to join a special numeracy webinar on  Wednesday June 19 at 10:00 am EDT. This webinar is a follow-up to the International Numeracy Conference held in Berlin in December 2012 hosted by the German Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and GPE. The conference had created a stimulating environment for donors, multilaterals, non-governmental organizations and academics to discuss the opportunities and challenges for numeracy in the coming years.

In response to the positive feedback from the conference, GIZ is developing a new Numeracy Sector Program dedicated to promoting numeracy in pre-school and in early grades in the framework of the international education agenda. The webinar aims to pick up the energy generated in Berlin and to push forward the agenda of numeracy education internationally.

The webinar brings together partners working in the field of numeracy to share their experiences and future plans. As an introduction, the GIZ will present its new Numeracy Sector Program initiated by the German Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development in cooperation with the Global Partnership. This will be followed by comments and presentations from the World Bank, USAID, United Kingdom Department for International Development (DFID), and JICA. For more details on the Numeracy Sector Program of the German Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development, please contact numeracy@giz.de.

Access the webinar through Adobe Connect at 10:00 am EST/ 3.00 pm (GMT):
