In Canadian parliament, Malala Yousafzai vows education for girls can transform communities

During her first trip to Canada, Nobel laureate Malala Yousafzai gave a speech to the country's Parliament and praised Canada for being at the forefront of making education accessible to the most disadvantaged; notably, the new CEO of Malala Fund was a refugee who fled Uganda and came to Canada as a child.

The economic stability of many communities depends on girls and Malala urged Canada to lead the fight around the world by hosting the upcoming replenishment of GPE. Secondary education for girls can make the world more secure because extremism grows alongside inequality in places where people have no opportunity. Donors and developing countries promised in the Sustainable Development Goals to make a way for every girl to go to school for 12 years. This is a dream for the poorest girls in the world and they must make that dream a reality.
