In March 2017, the Global Partnership for Education Secretariat approved the following grant:

US$323,570 for Rwanda to undertake an education sector analysis and develop a new education sector plan

The Education Sector Plan Development Grant will allow Rwanda to conduct a comprehensive education sector analysis that will review the current education sector performance. In addition, the grant will also finance the development of a new education sector plan for 2018/19 – 2022/23 that will help tackle the challenges the country faces in the education sector.

DFID, a key partner of the Global Partnership for Education, has been nominated by the local education group to be the grant agent on behalf of the Government of Rwanda.

Education Sector Plan Development Grants from the Global Partnership for Education are intended to help countries perform strategic, consultative and analytical work to develop or revise their sector plan. Of the maximum grant amount of US$500,000, US$250,000 is reserved for education sector analysis, and the remainder for additional studies or to develop the sector plan.
