Global Partnership for Education Grants US$16.2 Million to Tajikistan

On October 1, 2013, the Minister of Finance of the Republic of Tajikistan and the World Bank Country Manager in Tajikistan signed an agreement for a new $16.2 million grant from the Global Partnership for Education.

The grant will finance a project focusing on improving access to quality and affordable preschool programs through improvement of existing early learning centers and creation of new ones. In addition, the project aims to increase access to quality public education through modernization of curricula and standards, teacher training, methodological support and training materials. The new project builds on the success of three previous ones financed since 2006 by grants from the Global Partnership for Education Fund.
