U.S. House foreign aid spending bill protects development programs for fiscal year 2018

The current U.S. spending bill in the House is restoring funding for health and development programs to fiscal year 2017 levels. It is even increasing funding for a couple of programs; funding for GPE in the House bill is US$12.5 million above that of fiscal year 2017, which puts advocates in a position to negotiate for higher funding in the Senate. This bill is also an opportunity to leverage other donors to give more to GPE at the upcoming replenishment conference in 2018.
