Building the Global Schoolhouse, by Gordon Brown
Gordon Brown, UN Special Envoy for Global Education, says that Ban ki-Moon, the UN Secretary General, is a prime example of the power of education. From learning under a tree thanks to emergency support from UNICEF to leading the United Nations, he proves how much education can change a life.
At the World Education Forum in Korea next week and at the next meetings this year where global leaders will discuss education, Mr. Brown says that the world must commit more resources to ensure that the children who are denied their right to go to school and learn can do so. He cites in particular the millions of children affected by crises and conflict, from Syria to Nepal.
