Failing to invest in quality basic education has implications for global stability

In this opinion piece by Kolleen Bouchane of GCE, she explains that the retreat of financing for education and underfunding development partners like GPE undermine progress made over the past decades to increase access to basic education. The need for greater efficiency, innovation and STEM education is urgent, but efficiency, innovation and learning are built on the imperatives of reaching children at an early age, and investing in quality teachers. There is a strong link between declining funding and quality learning, on which individuals and communities depend to build their lives.
