France increases contribution to the Global Partnership for Education

Washington, February 14, 2017 - France has increased its contribution to the Global Partnership for Education (GPE) from €1 million in 2015 to €8 million in 2016 which brings France’s contribution for the 2014-2018 replenishment period to a total €9 million.

We are very pleased by this significant increase from France, a core partner of the Global Partnership for Education,” said Alice Albright, GPE’s Chief Executive Officer. “We look forward to further strengthening our collaboration with the French government, particularly in the area of innovative financing.”

France joined GPE in 2005 and has since contributed a total of US$107 million. It is represented on the GPE Board of Directors and shares a seat with the European Commission, Germany, Italy and Spain
