Julia Gillard affirms early learning is the most important time in children's education

Speaking at this year's Global Education and Skills Forum, former Prime Minister of Australia and Board Chair of GPE Julia Gillard noted that the most critical time for learning is a child’s early years. While she praised the progress made in early child development, she also acknowledged that the world is still playing catch up on implementing essential educational needs, arguing that it is difficult to mobilize governments around early childhood education because it does not clearly always fit into policy portfolios. To ensure quality early childhood care and development, they have to involve experts in nutrition and healthcare.
