Switzerland increases contribution to the Global Partnership for Education

Washington, February 8, 2017 - Switzerland has increased its 2016 contribution to the Global Partnership for Education (GPE) from US$6.4 million (CHF 6.5 million) to US$9.9 million (CHF10 million) recognizing GPE as a priority organization for Switzerland’s international cooperation.

Switzerland is an important partner in the Global Partnership for Education, and we are delighted about this increased funding,” said Alice Albright, GPE’s Chief Executive Officer. “We look forward to further strengthening our collaboration with the Swiss government.”

At the 2014 GPE replenishment conference, Switzerland had pledged CHF 6.5 million annually for the period 2015-2016.

Switzerland joined GPE in 2009 and has since contributed a total of US$43.5 million. It is represented on the GPE Board of Directors and shares a seat with BelgiumLuxembourg, the Netherlands, and Russia.
