The collective action of our partners and their support, expertise, and knowledge are vital to deliver a good quality education to all girls and boys.
GPE partners play a key role in achieving education results, maximizing aid effectiveness, and ensuring transparency and accountability.
In each partner developing country, we bring together all actors involved in education in a Local Education Group (LEG) to develop sound education strategies and programs and foster a coordinated education sector dialogue.
The Local Education Group is usually led by the Ministry of Education and includes donors and development agencies. We also encourage the inclusion of other education actors such as civil society, teacher representatives, and the private sector to increase the relevance, credibility, and ownership of reforms.
At the Global Partnership, we put a strong emphasis the principle of mutual accountability, whereby all partners are responsible for doing their part in ensuring that every boy and every girl receives a good quality education.
Developing Country Partners
Developing country partners take the lead in the development, implementation, and monitoring of education plans and strategies based on their national priorities.
Civil Society Organizations
Civil society organizations play a key role in advocating for increased support for education, helping to shape, implement, and monitor education strategies and ensuring government accountability.
Donors provide financial and technical support to assist developing country partners in producing and implementing sound education strategies.
Youth advocates work to ensure that all children and youth have access to a high quality education. They play a key role in shaping and influencing education policies.
Private Sector and Foundations
Private sector, think tanks and foundations participate in the elaboration of education strategies, work with communities to advocate for education rights, and provide funding as well as strategic, technical and fundraising advice to help the partnership expand its activities.
International Organizations such as UNESCO, UNICEF and the World Bank, are key in implementing education strategies, generating and sharing knowledge from good practices, and supervising grant agreements.
Global Education First Initiative
The Global Partnership supports the Global Education First Initiative of the UN Secretary-General, which aims to achieve three goals: getting all children in school, improving the quality of learning, and fostering global citizenship.
