Since 2002, the Global Partnership for Education has achieved remarkable results and helped more children enrol in school for a quality education. Here is a selection of some of our 10 most impressive results on the ground.
1. Financial aid
The Global Partnership for Education has provided US$2.2 billion in financial aid between 2004 and 2010.
6. Textbooks
Since 2003, 200 million textbooks have been distributed in primary schools in GPE countries.
2. Teachers
More than 300,000 additional teachers were hired in GPE developing country partners between 2002 and 2009.
7. Primary School Enrolment
In 2009, over 82 million children were enrolled in school in GPE developing country partners compared to only 63 million in 2002. The Global Partnership has put 19 million children into school.
3. Classrooms
Since 2003, we have contributed to the construction of over 30,000 classrooms.
8. Girls' Education
68% of girls in GPE countries now finish primary school.
4. School Feeding
700,000 children now receive a daily school meal thanks to the Global Partnership's funding.
9. Primary School Completion Rate
The primary school completion rate in GPE developing country partners has increased from 60% in 2002 to over 72% in 2009.
5. Repetition Rates
Repetition rates in GPE countries have on average halved within 3-5 years of their entry to the Partnership.
10. Gender Parity
Out of 46 GPE developing country partners, an additional 5 countries have achieved gender parity in primary completion rates since 2000 and another 15 developing country partners are within reach.
