The Global Partnership for Education (the “Global Partnership,” or “GPE”) believes
that education is a fundamental right for all children and is essential to achieving all of the Millennium Development Goals. Investing in education is the single most effective means of reducing poverty: if all children in low-income countries could read, it is estimated that poverty would drop by 12 percent. In addition, educating girls and women is the most effective investment for achieving long-term health benefits for a nation, thereby saving the lives of mothers and babies and creating healthier, stronger families.
