Program:The workshop addressed the literacy crisis affecting developing countries where between 25% and 75% of children don't learn how to read and over 250 million children are struggling to read even basic words.

Participants engaged with technical experts and discussed their experiences and practices in the following fields:

  • Teacher training
  • Mother tongue instruction, language transition
  • Learning materials, reading books, curriculum and lesson plans
  • Assessment tools, monitoring and evaluation
  • Finance and sustainability, campaigning and policy dialogue.

The discussion outcomes were edited into an actionable plan to improve early grade reading and boost children's literacy.
