Gideon is a political economy of development post-graduate, with research and advocacy experience on aid (ODI, Actionaid UK and UK Aid Network) and trade (CUTS International) issues. Gideon's work currently focuses on UK and EU aid policy, the Paris, Accra and Busan aid effectiveness agendas, trends in development finance and the new context for aid. Recent publications include ‘Localising Aid’ on use of country systems in developing countries, ‘EU state-building contracts: early lessons from the EU’s budget support instrument in fragile states’ (2015); and ‘Financing for Development: Lessons from Development Progress case studies’ (2015).
