Joseph Nhan-O'Reilly

Joseph Nhan-O'Reilly is the co-founder and Executive Director of the International Parliamentary Network for Education. The Network’s mission is to grow and deepen political leadership to accelerate quality education for all. It works with individual parliamentarians along with groups of parliamentarians at the national, regional and global level and is focused on higher total and better quality financing for education; ensuring policy makers prioritize helping the furthest behind first; and improving learning outcomes.

Prior to establishing IPNEd Joseph spent a decade leading Save the Children’s work on education.

In 2010 Joseph was elected by northern civil society and international non-government organizations to represent them on the newly constituted Global Partnership for Education Board and was re-elected in 2012. He was the inaugural chair of the Partnership’s Strategy & Policy Committee which oversaw the development of GPE’s Strategic Plan 2015-2020, its Gender Equality Strategy and its Results Framework, Monitoring and Evaluation Strategy (2015-2020).

He played a leadership role in the design and establishment of Education Cannot Wait: the global fund for education in emergencies, served on its Executive Committee and co-led the development of its first Multi-Year Resilience Plan.

He is currently the Chair of the Global Book Alliance - a multi-stakeholder initiative working to transform book development, procurement and distribution to ensure that no child is without books – and the education lead at the UK’s National Commission for UNESCO.
