Joseph Nhan-O'Reilly is Head of Education Policy & Advocacy at Save the Children, the world's largest independent child rights organization, where he works alongside a global team of managers and educators committed to increasing access to and the quality of education around the world. He is the founder of First Read which supports families with small children learn together and is the creator of the International Children’s Book Initiative. In 2010 Joseph was elected by northern civil society and international non-government organizations to represent them on the newly constituted Global Partnership for Education Board and was re-elected in 2012.
From 2014 to 2017 Joseph was the inaugural chair of the Global Partnership for Education Strategy and Policy Committee. He is currently the Chair of the Global Book Alliance a multi-stakeholder initiative working to transform book development, procurement and distribution to ensure that no child is without books.
