DonorsDonors provide financial and technical assistance to help partner countries develop and implement their education strategies. ![]() Donors—developed countries and international organizations—provide technical and financial support when a developing country lacks sufficient resources to finance its education programs. Most of our developing country partners cover the largest share (up to 80 percent) of the costs of their education programs. The remaining financing is mobilized through direct contributions from donors and grants from the Global Partnership for Education Fund. Our goals are to:
The 2011-14 replenishment campaign aims to provide $8 billion in additional external financing to developing country partners. Donor support is critical to reach this target and help provide an education to the poorest and most marginalized children. In GPE country partners, donors provide technical expertise to national governments and play a pivotal role in the coordination of local GPE partners, the elaboration and monitoring of education strategies and programs . They may contribute on a bilateral basis or supervise disbursements from the GPE Fund. Donors occupy 6 of the 19 seats on the GPE Board of Directors. Five donor representatives are also members of the Financial Advisory Committee. |
