Plan International report estimates that 246 million girls and boys are harassed and abused in and around school every year.

School-related gender-based violence (SRGBV) can take various forms, such as physical, mental and emotional abuse against girls and boys, which causes increased absenteeism, higher dropout rates, and undermines students’ participation and achievements in school.

The Global Partnership for Education is as an active member of the Global Working Group to End School-Related Gender-Based Violence, a group of more than 30 partners advocating for all schools to be free from gender-based violence.

On the International Day of Innocent Children Victims of Aggression (June 4), let’s acknowledge the importance of providing access to a safe education to all children, and continue working together to protect their rights.
