World Teachers’ Day is an opportunity to pay tribute to all teachers around the world who, every day, are giving children a chance at a brighter future.

Teachers play one of the most influential and powerful roles in improving students’ learning. Yet to many teachers in developing countries don’t have the required knowledge or pedagogical skills to teach effectively. This affects disproportionately the most vulnerable and marginalized children, who tend to be taught by the most inexperienced teachers.

In a strong education system, teachers are equipped with what they need to teach effectively, can rely on appropriate support mechanisms, and are motivated to do their best.

This is why GPE supports partner countries to ensure that every classroom has a qualified, motivated and well-supported teacher who can unleash students' potential.
