Speaking at the Kapuscinski Development Lectures in Brussels, Belgium, Julia Gillard, Board Chair of the Global Partnership for Education, stresses that 2015 is a “pivotal moment for global development overall and for efforts to educate more of the world’s children.”

“This is a year for decision,” Gillard says. “To me, the agenda for this year is clear. The status quo is unacceptable. We need to raise our level of ambition and rapidly accelerate progress towards achieving our goals for global education.”

Ms. Gillard articulates four key priorities:

“First, we must get the Sustainable Development Goals right …

Second, give us financing that matches the goals …

Third, we must address the humanitarian challenge to education, to ensure education does not stop, even when there are ravages of conflict, broken governance and disease.”

Gillard also emphasized keeping the debate focused on the real issues and not getting sidetracked by discussions about institutions and process.

With the confusion and complexity of the next Strategic Goals, how can anyone help create pressure to simplify and put education at/near the top of any initiative announced in September?

I enjoy Mme julia goals. I only pray that the world leaders should support her. Those who are in charge to manager funds send to Africa like in my Country Cameroon, should be transparent especially during the recruitment of trained teachers.
