GPE Board Chair Julia Gillard had a busy week in the United Kingdom, where she met partners and students to talk about the importance of education.

Ms. Gillard:

Throughout the events, Ms. Gillard discussed the need for the education community to lift its ambition to ensure that inclusive, equitable quality education for all is achieved by 2030. She also discussed the challenges posed by declining aid to education and the $39 billion annual financing gap to achieve the education for all goal by 2030.

The message remains clear and direct: education must be at the core of the post-2015 agenda because, as ODI director Kevin Watkins put it, “if we get education wrong, it’s going to be the first domino that topples all other sustainable development goals.”
