Today is the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty, and the theme this year is “Leave no one behind”.  Around the world, 1.2 billion people (that’s 17% of the world population) live in extreme poverty, which means that they have at most $1.25 per day to live.

The target of halving extreme poverty by 2015, the first of eight Millennium Development Goals, was reached in 2010. But there is so much more to do. At the Global Partnership, we strongly believe that if children who live in the poorest conditions have the ability to go to school and learn, they will be on their way to making a better life for themselves and their families, impacting whole communities and countries, and making the world a better place for all.
