If the global education crisis is the mountain, partnership is the ladder that will accelerate our climb. It is in this spirit that the first day of the GPE Financing Conference (February 1st) has been dubbed ‘Partners Day’, dedicated to showcasing and providing a platform for the hundreds of partners that move GPE’s strategic goals, and the possibility of every child receiving a quality education, ever closer to reality.

In just 3 days, Dakar will host our most ambitious celebration of global partnership, with a set of almost 50 diverse and dynamic events relating to the partnership’s strategy, GPE 2020.

February 1st: 5 themes and 50 events

The Partnership Platform is an energetic, eclectic and creative mix of events led by over 40 organizations from around the world, ranging from private sector foundations and UN agencies, to global consortia and local civil society organizations.

Partnership Platform events include for example:

  • youth delegates interviewing CEOs and Director Generals
  • GPE leadership ‘in conversation with’ multi-billion dollar companies interested in investing in education
  • photographic storytelling
  • talk-shows
  • performance poetry
  • moderated panel discussions posing and answering the biggest questions around education.

Across two rooms, five major themes will be explored: ‘Education Financing’, ‘Education for the Future’, ‘Equity and Inclusion’, ‘Education Advocacy’ and ‘Education in Emergencies’.

For more information, you can download the detailed program.

Education Dialogues

In the afternoon, GPE and partners will be taking a deep-dive into the critical issues for education in the 21st century, to ensure we meet Sustainable Development Goal 4 by 2030.

In two interactive dialogues, on ‘Equity & Inclusion’, and ‘Improved and More Equitable Learning Outcomes’, we will bring together speakers from ministries of education, donor governments, UN agencies, civil society, teachers organizations, youth, and the private sector. These speakers will share their experiences of and proposals for improving learning outcomes, reforming education systems, ensuring equity and inclusion, and providing education during emergencies and protracted crises.

February 2: the Partnership Zone

Day 2, dedicated to Education Financing, will be no exception when it comes to illustrating the importance of partnership. The ‘Partnership Zone’ will provide up to 20 GPE partners and sponsors an area to showcase their work and commitments to education. We expect over 700 delegates to pass through the Partnership Zone during the conference day, which will feature a mock-school, video booth and climate-friendly ‘publication’ library.

Be a part of it!

Don’t miss this seminal moment for global education. We will be posting live updates throughout the day on February 1 on GPE social media channels, and we are certain many partners will do the same. On February 2, if you are not in Dakar with us, you can watch the events of the GPE Financing Conference live.

We are excited about a full, stimulating and inspiring conference ahead thanks to the richness of the GPE partnership. See you in Dakar!
