Girls' Education, Local Leadership and Taking Action

The Center for Universal Education at Brookings is hosting two panels on girls' education.

12.00 to 1.15 pm. Panel 1: Mobilizing Girls’ Education and Advancing Efforts to Education and Act
This session explores global girls’ education efforts and models to mobilize and shift community perceptions and political will. The session includes a keynote from Angeline Murimirwa Founder of CAMA Pan African Network, Camfed and a panel discussion on strategies that remove barriers and new strategies that demonstrate promise for mobilizing new leadership and girls’ education champions.

1.30 to 2.45 pm. Panel 2: Community-based Solutions in Girls’ Education
This discussion on adolescent girls’ education focuses on the importance of community empowerment and community-led solutions to overcome obstacles to adolescent girls’ education.

3:00 to 4:30 pm: Reception Celebrating Girls’ Education
Attendees of the days’ events are invited to attend an open reception for networking and celebrating work on girls’ education co-hosted by the Center for Universal Education at Brookings and the Global Partnership for Education.
