Alison Marie Grimsland

Alison is an education specialist in the west and central Africa region where she focuses on developing and implementing large scale lending projects in basic education, education sector support, technical and vocational education, and youth employment, largely in post-conflict and/or fragile settings. Her current work is focused in Chad, The Gambia, and Senegal, and she has worked previously in Rwanda, Cote d’Ivoire, the Republic of Congo, and Gabon. She is particularly interested in inclusive education for students with disabilities, and school leadership. She joined the Bank as a Junior Professional Associate in the Agriculture and Environmental Services anchor where she used her background in adult education to design e-learning courses for capacity building in the sector. Before joining the Bank she was the deputy director of International Education and Programs at George Washington University (GWU). She holds a master’s degree in International and Comparative Education from GWU.
