Sam Norgah

Sam Norgah is currently the Director of the Plan International African Union Liaison Office. As the Director his role includes providing leadership for the Plan Liaison Office to strengthen Plan’s influencing capacity at the continental (AU) level and engage in advocacy initiatives that promote children’s right and equality for girls.

Sam was previously the Deputy Country Director for Plan International, Kenya and in that role, he was responsible for leading, managing and supporting the country teams to ensure effective and quality programming with the aim of addressing child poverty in line with Plan Kenya’s 5 year Strategic Plan.

Prior to taking up that position, Samuel was the Head of Regional Strategy for Plan’s Eastern and Southern Regional Office, after serving as the Head of Regional Monitoring and Evaluation for Plan in South Africa. Samuel has worked in various capacities both with government and the private sector, with vast experience in working with children and youth in addressing issues of poverty, inequality, gender based violence and youth employment.

Sam holds a Masters’ Degree in Development Studies from the University of Norway and by training, is an M&E Expert with a strong background in Strategy development & Project Management. To date, he has successfully supported the development of over 30 Country Strategies and Evaluations across Plan and other organisations. Sam has tremendous exposure in working in multi-cultural and multi-racial environments, having worked in Ghana, Senegal, the UK, South Africa, Kenya and Ethiopia. In addition, Sam has supported work in over 35 countries where Plan works.

Sam is passionate about children’s issues (especially girls) and believes the key to Africa’s development dilemma is a strong and deliberate investment in systems, structures and processes that provide equal opportunities for children to step up into responsible adulthood. Sam also runs an M&E blog and is an ardent photographer.
