In October 2017, the Global Partnership for Education Secretariat approved the following grant:

US$56,000 for The Gambia as additional financing, bringing the total education sector plan development grant amount to US$443,362 and extending the end date of the grant from October 30, 2017 to April 30, 2018.

The additional financing will allow The Gambia to support technical assistance to review/reconcile data, help the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education and the Ministry of Higher Education, Research, Science and Technology integrate costing scenarios, review theories of change and coherence of strategies for priority areas, as well as review and integrate the monitoring and evaluation framework.

The World Bank, a key partner of the Global Partnership for Education, has been nominated by the local education group to be the grant agent on behalf of the Government of The Gambia.

Education Sector Plan Development Grants from the Global Partnership for Education are intended to help countries perform strategic, consultative and analytical work to develop or revise their sector plan. Of the maximum grant amount of US$500,000, US$250,000 is reserved for education sector analysis, and the remainder for additional studies or to develop the sector plan.
