The Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport in Cambodia just launched the “Strengthening Teacher Education Programs in Cambodia” campaign to improve early education. The program, funded by GPE to the tune of US$20.6 million, will target early grade educators at provincial teacher training centers, and boost efficiency and learning outcomes.

According to GPE, the grant will particularly benefit children from disadvantaged groups, and will foster professional growth for educators. In its first year, the program will train more than 1,500 Grade 1 teachers in Siem Reap and Kampong Thom provinces. In years 2 and 3, the program will expand to three more provinces and also to other grade levels.
