Civil society commits to monitor Malawi’s pledge of increasing public education expenditure

Following GPE’s Financing Conference held on February 1-2, 2018, the government of Malawi has committed to increase public education expenditure from 24% in 2018 to 31% in 2020. In an interview with the Nyasa Times, Civil Society Education Coalition (CSEC) executive director Benedicto Kondowe emphasized the critical role civil society should play in advocating for increases in education financing and also ensuring the government abides by its pledge and resources are utilized for the intended purpose.
