The economic cost of gender inequality in earnings: U$160 trillion

A study released ahead of the meeting of the G7, and drawing from research supported by Canada, the Children’s Investment Fund Foundation and GPE, revealed the staggering economic cost of gender inequality in lost human capital. 

Globally, countries lose US$160 trillion in wealth due to earnings gaps between women and men. 

The findings in Unrealized Potential: The High Cost of Gender Inequality in Earnings are a stark reminder that world leaders need to act decisively to invest in policies that promote more and better jobs for women and equal pay at work.
