Education Commission members call on world leaders to fund Global Education through GPE

"We need to greatly increase investment in education as it is key to breaking the cycle of poverty in which millions and millions are trapped. Today, we have a solution in the form of an international financing facility seeking support from the G20." These words are from the renowned artist Shakira, after a joint performance with Coldplay on the eve of the G20 summit, in Hamburg, Germany.

Joined on stage by Gordon Brown (former Prime Minister of United Kingdom), Erna Solberg (Prime Minister of Norway) and Julia Gillard (GPE Chair), they all recall world leaders on the importance to finance the Global Partnership for Education, if they don’t want half of the world's youth population be denied access to education by 2030.
