GPE and partners award scholarship to 1,350 girls in primary school in Jigawa state, Nigeria

Development partners, under the auspices of GPE, are sponsoring 1,350 girls in 13 primary schools with N27 million; these schools are being targeted because of their remote location and due to the fact that access to education in those areas is low. 

These students, through their parents, have received a scholarship to purchase school supplies. The local GPE representative has cautioned parents to spend these funds only for educational materials, including books, uniform, shoes, hijab and water bottle, for their schoolgirls. The program is meant to incentivize parents to enroll girls in school and make them stay in school.
