Under a new government program in Kenya, students in grades 1 and 2 will receive math textbooks in order to improve competencies in the subject as part of the rollout of a new curriculum. The Ministry of Education announced that handbooks for teachers are also being made available to ensure that teaching and learning align with the new curriculum. More than 90,000 primary school teachers across the country have already been trained on teaching early grade math under the Sh8.8 billion project funded by Global Partnership for Education.
