New global digital library provides free reading resources for Ethiopian children

The Global Book Alliance is launching a new global digital library in Ethiopia to increase the availability of free, high quality, reading resources for children and youth across the country.

The global digital library is a worldwide effort to provide children with the books and learning materials they need to learn to read. Ethiopia was chosen as the first country to launch it, and will be hosting openly licensed reading resources in seven Ethiopian languages.

Founding members of the Global Book Alliance include: the Norwegian Embassy and the Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation (NORAD), the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), UKaid, UNICEF, UNESCO, Save the Children, the World Bank, World Vision, ADEA, Australian Aid, and the Global Partnership for Education.
