After her visit to Malawi last year to witness the work of the Global Partnership for Education, and having seen world leaders pledge US$2.3 billion towards global education at the GPE Financing Conference in Dakar in February, GPE Global Ambassador Rihanna says there is still far to go to improve education for 870 million children in 89 countries.

In an opinion piece in The Guardian, Rihanna admits that if she often took going to school for granted when growing up, she now wants to be part of a solution to give access to education to the millions of children around the world who can't. Conflict, poverty, gender inequality and poor policies keep more than a quarter of a billion children and teens from getting an education. But she says that if we can overcome this education crisis, everybody will win.
