According to a survey conducted by the News Agency of Nigeria, no fewer than 10 million children have been enrolled in public primary schools in the north west and north central zones of Nigeria. This indicates a sharp increase of up to 20% in the school enrollment figure in some zones.

This increase can be attributed to the introduction of the free school feeding program of the state government as well as the scholarships awarded to households to encourage the enrollment of girls in school as part of the GPE program in Nigeria.
