Uganda First Lady Janet Museveni urges parents to prioritize education
At an official opening for one of the primary schools in Uganda that have undergone reconstruction thanks to a US$100 million grant from GPE, First Lady and Minister of education and sports, Janet Museveni, urged parents to be actively involved in the education of their children. She noted that while it is the responsibility of the government to provide education, parents cannot abdicate their responsibility to provide basic needs for their children.
Ms. Museveni acknowledged that when it comes to securing access to quality education, renovating school facilities is meaningless if parents do not prioritize their children’s education. She also applauded schools for instituting that young children start learning in their mother tongue.
