Uganda introduces electronic inspection system
Under the Uganda Teacher School Effectiveness Project, supported by a US$100 million grant from the Global Partnership for Education, the country has introduced an electronic inspection system. Launched in November 2016, the three-year e-inspection called Integrated Inspection System (IIS) is being piloted in 1,000 schools distributed in 46 districts where interventions such as improving reading, constructing classrooms, training teachers and head teachers, among others, are undertaken under the UTSEP.
The digitized inspection is carried out using tablets. A team of two people visit a school, make observations, focus on teaching and learning and management of the school, and enter the information into the IIS.
