UNICEF facilitated a meeting in Uzbekistan between participants from the ministry of education and its affiliates, as well as its international development partners. The gathering served as a platform to present the strategic framework and priorities of the country's second education sector plan (ESP 2018-2022), and to discuss key aspects of its implementation.

The new ESP builds on the first education sector plan (2012-2017), which was instrumental to Uzbekistan in accessing a US$49 million grant from GPE. Participants acknowledged that the ongoing reforms in the country have accelerated improvements in the education sector.
