Monique Guenoune
Youth advocate

Monique Guenoune is 23 years old, and lives in a small town called Rufisque, close to Dakar, Senegal. She is deaf, along with her parents and 4 of her siblings. She dropped out of school due to lack of opportunities for an inclusive education in her local school, and the costs involved if she was to look for a more specialized education further afield. Monique attended the GPE Financing Conference as a youth advocate representing the International Disability and Development Consortium’s (IDDC)  Inclusive Education Task Group. Monique shared her personal experience of education on the IDDC panel, and the Education Dialogue on Equity and Inclusion, to advocate for inclusive education and share her personal story and her  siblings’ experience of inclusive education. Monique was supported to attend by the Humanity & Inclusion team based in Dakar.
