Catherine Nyambura

Catherine is a consultant in the Global Advocacy Team of the GPE Secretariat. She supports work on strategic partnerships, public policy engagement and advocacy at the Pan-African level.

Catherine has extensive experience of policy advocacy at the Pan-African and global levels with civil society, government and young people. She has led programming, strategy development and advocacy on youth development, gender equality and women’s empowerment and sexual and reproductive health and rights among others. This experience is infused with her background in student activism, coalition building, forging strong strategic partnerships and multilateral policy influencing.

Prior to joining the GPE Secretariat, Catherine was an advocacy officer at FEMNET (a pan African women’s rights network), ATHENA (a global network on global health) and the grassroots organization Dandelion Kenya, as the Deputy Director. She is also a Mandela Fellow and Women Deliver Young Leader - awarded in recognition of innovative projects she conceptualized and scaled up on young women’s engagement in women’s rights organizing and policy advocacy. She is a Board member of Amplify CHANGE (a basket fund on sexual and reproductive health and rights), and Msichana Kuria, a young women organization working to end FGM and child marriage.  Catherine has also published in the Agenda Feminist Journal (2018 Edition) and the Gender and Development Journal (2018 edition).
