Charles Tapp

Charles Tapp is the manager of the Partnerships and External Relations team at the Global Partnership for Education. He is responsible to develop fundraising and partnership strategies and is spearheading the second replenishment campaign of the Global Partnership. Charles was educated at Cambridge University (MA Geography Hons.) and the University of Edinburgh (MSc African Studies Hons. – Tropical Agro-Forestry). After a short stint working with USAID in Sudan as a forestry adviser, he joined CARE International where he had a number of roles over 15 years, beginning in Sudan, including running CARE’s large program in Niger and then becoming CEO of CARE UK and later CEO of CARE Australia. Charles moved to the government of Australia in 2000 as the deputy head of AusAID, the Australian Agency for International Development. In 2007, he worked as senior advisor to UNDP’s Bureau for Asia and the Pacific before being appointed as General Manager of Cardno Pty Ltd, a large publicly-listed Australian company, where he ran their Emerging Markets Division, working across 54 countries globally. Charles has extensive development experience in Africa, Asia, and the Pacific.
