Deepa Srikantaiah

Deepa Srikantaiah is World Learning's Senior Education Specialist - Literacy & Numeracy in the Global Development division. Bringing over 15 years of experience working on literacy, mathematics, science, technology and engineering education programs in the United States, East Africa, and South and East Asia, Deepa supports design and development of new programs, and provides technical support to World Learning's STEM Centers and QITABI in Lebanon. Prior to joining World Learning, she worked for USAID's Data and Evidence for Education Programs (DEEP) and Reading within Reach/Global Reading Network (GRN), where she contributed to the research and evidence for USAID programs in early grade reading and mathematics. She was also a Fulbright-Nehru US Scholar where she researched mathematics and science education for poor, marginalized, and vulnerable youth and primary school age students. Deepa has also served as Senior Associate at Creative Associates International, where she provided technical expertise and leadership in mathematics instruction with an emphasis on early grades and foundational skills in both formal and non-formal education settings. As an Education Specialist at the Global Partnership for Education Secretariat, a partnership hosted by the World Bank, she initiated and headed the work on early grade mathematics education. Deepa started her career teaching chemistry and her passion for teaching and education led her to pursue graduate work in education. She holds an M.A. and Ph.D., both in International Education Policy from the University of Maryland.
