Dzingai Mutumbuka is chairman of the Association for Education Development in Africa (ADEA), a network that brings together African Ministers of Education and their technical and funding partners to focus on policy dialogue and reforms in the education and training sector. In 2007 he retired from the World Bank, where he served in various senior positions, including as Sector Manager for Human Development for Eastern and Southern Africa. Before joining the World Bank, he was Minister of Education for nine years in his home country, Zimbabwe, after having participated in the country’s freedom struggle and being elected to parliament. He studied at university in both Zimbabwe and the UK, and holds a doctorate in physical chemistry from the University of Sussex. Mr. Mutumbuka sits on a number of boards involved with education, including Friends of FAWE Forum for African Women Educationalists, Results for Development Institute, and UNESCO's International Institute of Education Planning.
