Christabel Pinto is the global literacy director for Room to Read. Her experience in education includes teaching children, facilitating teacher professional development, curriculum and program design, community engagement, and research in sub-Saharan Africa, Asia and the United States. In her current role, she leads a literacy program that brings together the science and magic of reading to leave children with both the skills required to read and a deep desire to do so. Christabel’s expertise in education crosses subject and age boundaries. Previously, she has designed early grade numeracy programs, and she has worked with young adolescents, teaching math, science, and Sexual and Reproductive Health. Christabel has an MS in Education from Bank Street College of Education and an MA in International Education Development from TC, Columbia University. The views expressed in this blog are her own.
