On September 2, the Global Partnership for Education (GPE) approved an additional US$17.3 million for Education Out Loud to support national civil society coalitions’ education advocacy and social accountability work. With an initial allocation of US$55.5 million, this new funding brings the total available funds for Education Out Loud to US$72.8 million.

Implemented by Oxfam IBIS, Education Out Loud is the world’s largest fund dedicated to supporting civil society’s role in shaping education policy to better meet the needs of communities, with a focus on the most vulnerable and marginalized people.

This additional funding will enable civil society in more than 60 countries to continue to play a critical role in promoting equitable education as a key policy priority, especially in the context of the ongoing pandemic, which poses unique challenges to providing a quality education to millions of children around the world.

In 2020-2021, Education Out Loud supported 54 national coalitions’ participation in education sector policy dialogue, enabling them to contribute to policy decisions. This additional funding will allow even more national coalitions to strengthen transparency, accountability and civic participation in education, thus contributing to education system transformation, the cornerstone of GPE’s strategic plan GPE 2025.
