The UN Special Envoy for Global Education, Gordon Brown, accompanied by GPE CEO Alice Albright, met with Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and several of the country's education ministers to discuss education in Pakistan.  The international community has pledged to support Pakistan's education sector with US$1 billion, including a grant from the Global Partnership for Education for US$100 million currently being reviewed.

A quarter of Pakistan's population is under the age of 25, making education a clear priority for the country.
